The American College of Surgeons recommends that a heart program perform a minimum of 150 cases per year. Sarasota Memorial Hospital has the second largest cardiac program in Florida, performing nearly 1,000 open-heart procedures last year - Drs. Lewis and Beggs accounted for half of that volume.

Cape Surgery Center
The Cape Surgery Center is an option for minor procedures. The Cape Outpatient Surgery Center, a subsidiary of Sarasota Memorial Hospital, was the area's first ambulatory surgery center. It is a state-of-the-art facility located next door to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
The Anesthesiology Department at Cape Outpatient Surgery Center provides the same high levels of care, experience, equipment and patient monitoring found in Sarasota Memorial Hospital's operating suites.

Doctors Hospital of Sarasota
Doctors Hospital of Sarasota is a 168-bed acute and general care facility serving Sarasota and Manatee counties for 38 years. They offer full pulmonary and vascular services and nonsurgical cardiac care. They are accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
